Building social collections in Ibero-American libraries: the Pinterest case

Abstract

This exploratory descriptive study aims to detect and analyze the use of the social network Pinterest by Ibero-American libraries. 648 libraries sites were analyzed in the social network and the following data were collected from each: institution to which they belong, geographic location, types of libraries and activity in the service (types of boards, pins they created and number of followers). It is concluded that the type of libraries that are using more this network are the public, the popular and the academic libraries, with a strong predominance of the Spanish ones.
